Default Who says crappie can't be caught on large soft plastics?

My lake is very active and if I find a school of mixed species, anything goes! Here's a picture of a hand poured swim bait that caught crappie, bass, large white perch and a pickerel:

and this 3 1/2" hand poured minnow:

Crappie from 5"-12" got caught on these baits.

Nice fish Spoon! I caught a 1 3/4 crappie last spring pitching a 4" Chigger Craw into flooded buck brush in a foot of water here at Kentucky Lake. I was fishing for bass and when I felt the tap I set the 4/0 hook HARD, got him out of the brush and swung him in the boat. So much for paper mouths.

    Nice bait nice fish!!
I think most baits are multi-species:

The fluke that caught this crappie,

    caught this white perch:

A 3" slug minnow that caught different species in the same school!!

and of course the hybrid of a grub body and plastic worm tail using a candle flame:

I catch a bunch of crappie on big crankbaits and 1/2 ounce spider grubs bass fishing every year. Caught a few last year that were no bigger than the crankbait. I think crappie sometimes get it in their head they are 5 times bigger than they are. My wife caught the biggest crappie I've ever seen on a 1/2 ounce spider grub at ky lake in 05. Was a 19" crappie, I thought she had a big largemouth by the way her rod was doubled over.
