    Default Jig Eye Tutorial

Finally got around to taking some pics of how I get good painted jig eyes. When you push the eye over the wire grab the paint and pull it off and pull the jig back through. You have to do the slide down the wire when it is still very hot. I use lead because it is heavy. I used a wooden block for the first one. The point is when you pull the paint off the wire it does not move. The wire is .032 stainless hard.

Good ideal, but I just hold the jib by the eye when dipping and no paint. Have 2 pair of hemostats when dipping jigs. One to hold the jig when heating it up with a heat gun. Other pair is to hold the jig by the eye when dipping. I do dozens at a time and its fast.

Good setup for cleaning the eyes when painted, thanks for posting the tutorial.

I hold the eye with hemostats when heating and painting to keep the eyes clean also.

Ricky, those are 1/8 oz. They get a lot of paint on them and that is one reason I came up with the hook eye buster. There is 6 kinds of paint with glitter counting the glow and UV overcoats in those 3 fluid bed cups in the pics.

I posted this question once before - if you just poke the wire through the eyelet and then cure. As hard as powder paint gets, with the eyes cured that way has anyone noticed any breakoffs due to your line rubbing against it???

My eyelets get totally cleaned before I cure them, but wanted to see what responses are posted.

Agreed, much quicker and less fuss.
