Still waiting for the first 4 inches of hard water here in Northern Indiana to get out and try to get some nice Crappies.

I'm betting on mid-January. Maybe we should get a friendly pool going for us Yankees. - Roberta

I've never gone ice fishing; however, I would like to try one day. I need to find someone that's ice fished for a while. Who knows...this year may be my year.
I'd rather be on the lake enjoying the thrill of my rod telling me there's a fish on the end of my line. :D

You can also get a thrill on the ice when you see the flag on your tip-up flying high telling you Fish On. Or by watching your real time sonar signal as the fish gets closer to your bait.

Checked Stone Lake ,Diamond Lake,Little Pleasant Lake,Eagle Lake, and Juno Lake. All of these lakes had at least 5 inches of ice with most of the fishing taking place on Juno Lake channels.

Me and my cousin tried Belas Lake today for Crappie and caught only three but the excitement came when he walked away from his baited rod and reel and suddenly it disappeared very fast in the hole. I was the closest but was unable to save it .I have never seen one go in that fast. Must have been a Pike.

Mmmmm, sounds like the scene in Grumpy Old Men when Walter Matthau's ice pole went down the hole. Oops.
