Default Light, or ultra light action for a slip bobber rod?

I have tried a 10' ultra light action rod and it doesnt cast all that well because of the way that the rod vibrates. I believe that a light action rod would cast better, or I may try a shorter rod. What action do you use? light or ultra-light.

Once again I appreciate all of the wisdom that is shared on this site.

I may would go with a light action ,with all the extra weight to keep it from vibrating, also try to find a rod with a bigger guide tip to help stop knot go through easier, but for casting just a jig only I like a small eye at the tip so my 1/32 will not try to come threw the guide

Action is the term that describes where the rod bends when loaded. Slow, Moderate, Fast etc is how it is normal described. A fast crappie rod is different than a fast trout rod or bass rod. Heck even brand x's fast is different than brand y's. In other words what the action actually is may not jive with what is labeled (if it is even labeled).

Power is the term that describes how much weight it takes to load a rod and uses words such as UL, L, Medium, Heavy etc.

For me, a moderate action (to almost moderate fast) is what I want in a slipper bobber rod, with my lure weight sitting in the middle of the weight range (indicates power).

I suggest an 8.5' or 9' BPS Microlite Float n Fly rod or a light steelhead rod in the same lengths.

I would go with light for longer cast if needed.
