Default OSS's Tip of the Week, this is coming from a old tightazz.....

As many of you know I am always looking for something that works good and is cheap,(the cheaper the better), I have tried about everything for the two piece rod holder, rubber band holders, works good but the rubber bands rot in less than a year, (bad idea) then I made some with the beads and string, works okay, but would like for it to hold a little tighter. Nephew give me a pair of these black wire tie things which work good but cost about $4 a pair, too dam much, so fooling around in shop and think, and this is dangerous, heck what about a piece of soldering wire, darn tootin, I had a roll of 40/60 about 3/32" in dia, cut a couple of pieces about 6" long and wipe them off good with rag or paper towel and it works slicker than JJ's bald head........now just send me all the money you can save ...... Thank You..... all profits for this will be sent to Washington to help get the ramps and campgrounds open once again........

I just use "fuzzy sticks". I got them in the craft area of Wallyworld, they are like pipe cleaners. They work fine!

~$5 for 50. Strong as heck, all you need.

I like that idea on the wire I may try that. I think it's soft enough it won't scratch the poles and beats rappin rubber bands. I always keep a bag of rubber bands in the boat.
