Ship, an adventure for sure.
Candied yams & peanut butter??????????? However, I like peanut butter on hot tamales.
Well folks, I finally had a few hours where I could take the Venture boat out on the water. It was really an adventure too so from now on I am calling the boat "Adventure." We went to Riverside Landing on the Coosa River in Pell City Alabama and launched the boat. Shortly after launching there was a short and the motoe and the batteries all died. We had a paddle on the boat so we paddled to the closest pier and tied up to it. We decided to make the most of a bad situation and fish anyway and worry about getting back to shore later so we fished for about an hour using minnows and my Charisma soft plastic bait tipped with Crappie Nibbles. We caught just fifteen crappie in about an hour and a half. . They were not big but they were eater crappie. At one time Rev. Jennings had a nice crappie on one pole and another hit his do nothing pole on the side. In a flash both ploes were jerked out of the boat and went into the water as he lost both fish. One pole was just purchased six days prior to going out fishing.
There was nothing left to do but to give him another pole and fish a little while longer. We were still tied up to the dock and nothing was happening with the motor. I put a drop shot rig toget and began to fish for the poles in the 16 foot deep water. After several attemps I landed his pole and it still had a fish on the end of the line. We got the rod into the boat and and laughed so hard until we cried. We started to fish again and he landed another fish on the rod that had just been pulled from the depths. He fought that fish for five minutes ...and you guessed it, he shattered the rod and it completely broke.
Prayerfully the boat cranked up and we limped back to shore and got the boat on the trailer. I kept ten of the fifteen edible size crappies for dinner and we headed home thinking about the adventure we had.
First brought the boat home 2 weeks ago
I cleaned and waxed the boat
Rev. Jennings catching Crappie
Rev. Carter catching Crappie
The cooler is starting to fill up with tonight's dinner
Time to clean the fish
Getting some great eating with Candied Yams and P-nut butter. Got to gave the hot sauce too.

Good luck and good fishing
I fished the same area plus others down river on Thursday and caught 24 crappie and about 15 assorted trash fish. Keep at it and keep posting your adventures, I love reading them.

At least you made a good day out of it! Did you find out what caused the short?
There was an arc where I installed the on board charger I took from the Crosby boat. I guess I did not tighten it enough and something moved in the engine compartment and touched the wires causing the arc. The carberator needs adjusting and I have to use stabil or another product to get all the bad gas residue out.

Very nice. Thanks for posting it.
Quite the eventful fishing adventure for sure and glad you at least got some crappie for the skillet! Sorry to hear the troubles though,
