    Default Jigging Spoons

I was watching an Anglers Edge crappie fishing video. The section that talked about vertical jigging in the fall indicated that crappie dont like a bait the moves too much and recommended just twitching a jig above the fish. My question is this. Is it a bad idea to use small jigging spoons? Is there a certain temp where jigging spoons are more or less effective? If I use a jigging spoon how far should I lift it before I let it fall?

Thanks for any and all help!

I don't use spoons but my buddy does. He catches many bonus crappie on them while using his spoons for walleye.
