I use braid with fluoro leaders.
This has probably been addressed before & I missed it but I have just recently switched all my reels over to the new 12#/2# dia Bonehead Braid & lemme tell you that stuff is STRONG! I don't know how everyone else deals with this but the 1st time I got hung up solid & I tried to pull free like I would've with my mono, I cut the carp outta my hand! So, I took a piece of 1 1/4" dowel I had in the garage & cut a 6" length off & rounded the ends with sandpaper. Now I just give the braid a couple wraps around the dowel & pull. Any other solutions to this problem?
I use braid with fluoro leaders.
I use three different methods attempting to recover from hangups while using braid.
The first method is used if the hangup is not deeper than the length of my rods which are usually 9 to 12 ft long. I pull the line taut to guide the rod tip down to the hung up jig which will release a lot of hangups all the while realizing I'm risking breaking a rod tip to release a very cheap jig. Knock on wood I haven't broken a rod tip but have loosened up the tip line guide which is easy to glue back on. When using tandem jigs this method doesn't work that well if its the bottom jig hung up.
When the first method doesn't work I next resort to what I call a bow snap method to attempt to release it. Holding the loaded and bent rod horizontally with a arms length of line pulled away from the rod between the reel and the first line guide while maintaining as much tension, with out breaking the rod, before releasing the line to snap back towards the rod which releases a lot of hangups on something solid. Any hangups on a something that gives a little bit means this bow snap method probably won't work. As long as it is hung up on something solid this usually works.
When the bow snap method fails I then resort to putting the right hand jersey glove on open the bail lifting the rod tip over my head allowing the line to get close enough to grab wrapping it around the gloved hand and proceed to break the line.

My method:
Point your rod tip at the snag
Place thumb/finger tightly on spool (to keep it from rotating)
Pull straight back
Breaks at the palomar knot every time or straightens the hook.
Pepop ... I've addressed this issue several times before, and yes ... I do recommend having a dowel rod handy, for just such a situation. Braid will cut you bad, if you use a bare hand !! I also recommend having a pair of Childs Size Fiskar Scissors, to cut the braid, as they cut the tag end very clean & blunt, which makes it a lot easier to poke the tag end through a jighead eye. Many other "cutting instruments" will CUT braid, but a lot of them will leave a frayed tag end, which is difficult to put through the small line eye of a jighead.
I don't recommend using the rod handle to wrap braid around & pull a bait free from a snag ... especially if the handle is cork or foam, as braid can cut through those, too. A graphite Tenn style handle would be OK to use, and won't suffer the same fate as cork, foam, or fingers !!

I just keep the rod straight inline with the line, grab the spool and hope for the best.

Started using Dowel rod years ago Bass fish and still keep one in the boat. Have had a couple of pretty good cuts from it.

wrap a couple wraps around handle on reel, aberdeen hooks straighten real easy, I've got 2 reels that I bought on here that have I dont know what lb test hiviz green line on them and now I know why i quit mono and went to braid, that stuff sucks big time. Half of its coming off this week and putting braid over it and stop losing all my rigs.
Dowel rod here too. I like 20# braid with 6# diameter on most of my rigs pushin' cranks. 6# Mr. Crappie for casting slIp bobber. I'm going to check out what your
using too, for jiggin'. And where did you find that Bonehead Braid?
