    Default chevy 2500 hd

anyone drive a Chevy 2500 HD with a gasoline engine on here and if so how do you like it and what kind of gas mileage are you averaging? Looking at upgrading from a 1500 to the 2500 as I am wanting to get a 5th wheel camper and looking at options for trucks.

My grandfather has one. If your towing a bigger load (i.e. 5th wheel) with the 6.0 gas motor be prepared for about 10-12 mpg towing. Highway unloaded 14-16.

You would be much happier with the diesel.

if you go diesel make sure you get an extended warranty as the repair parts are quite pricy otherwise that is the way to go for towing

2500 are ok but the rear end is what makes up what your gas mileage will be. Heavy hauling you would want the 410 rear end. which gets about 10 mpg, the 373 gets around 14-15 mpg, and the 393 which is what I have get 15-18 mpg. The guys around me who pull a 5th wheeler went to a 3500 dually diesel. The dually adds more stability pulling the 5th wheeler than a standard truck. EB
