Default A Funny Thing Happened Today

While we were crappie fishing today a 19-inch/3-pound Largemouth Bass apparently took a small Bream right after the Bream had taken one of our minnows. After a pretty good tussle on a 10-foot jig pole the bass expelled the bream just as I scooped it up with the net and the hook was still in the Bream's mouth. It WAS a legal catch because we can use Bream up to 4-inches for bait here.

We ended up with a pretty good mess of fish. Had 15 more Crappie we didn't get in the picture. I think the Fall Feeding Frenzy is on.

When we were heading in late this afternoon we saw a flock of about 20 Wild Turkeys. I got a picture of the biggest group.

I've not had any turkeys come off the roost near us while we're fishing but I have had a huge flock of buzzards do it - kinda creepy!

Great Catch! Your story reminds me of something that happened to me a few years back. I was catching spawning crappie in about 18" of water when I hooked into one about 2 pounds or better. I got her up to the top of the water and was just fixing to slide the net under her when she opened her mouth and about a 4.5 inch yellow bass slid out of her mouth with my jig in its mouth. I got the bass but the big slab got away. I couldn't believe it. It is something i'll never forget.
