Default Sunday's Trip to KY Lake

We got a late start this morning, and didn't actually start fishing until after 7:30. This was my first successful summer/fall crappie fishing trip. When I say I don't have a clue how to catch crappie this time of year I mean not a clue. So not only did we boat 10 keepers (3 were 15"), but we actually caught several crappie. We were tight lining w/ minnows and caught most in 15 to 17 FOW.

I have a question I hope y'all will give me some insight to help me out. We marked several schools of suspended fish holding 12 to 10 feet deep in actual water depths from 15 to 30 ft of water. We tried to adjust our fishing depth in the deeper water to catch these fish, but never even got a bite. We did manage to waste a large amount of time. Are there any tricks of suggestions y'all have to catching these suspended fish?
    Thanks
    Brad

Ky Lake is a fair size pond of about 150,000 acres. So, where were you?

First thing you need to know and you may already know, I am not sure so just trying to help. Never fish below the crappie, they will never bite! Fish at or above their depth always!

We tried that mrdux w/ 200s and 300s. We must not be doing something right not even a single strike. I really like trolling crankbaits and can't wait until the stars align for us and we catch a few that way.
    Thanks

That explains it, no fish left in the area. Cane Pole and BillBob caught them all.
