Default Trolling for Crappie with Crankbaits

When using crankbaits do you use leaders?

I dont, it may cause your crank to loose some of its action, but do use braid or 15lb line so if you hang up you will have a chance to get it back

I don't either, I find I catch more fish without a leader. Never tried the briaded line..I might give that a shot.

Thanks. I usually just use jigs for trolling but I am going to try crankbaits soon when I have a slow day. I am going to use some swimbaits also just to see how they work. Any thoughts on swimbaits?

I love trolling the 2 inch swimbaits or sassy shad on a double rig. At about 1.8 to 2.0 mph, I can usually keepem in about 8 ft of water. Great for when they move shallow to spawn. Just use different colors until they tell you what they want.
