Default Anybody UL drop shot for crappie?

I'm going to give it a shot, tomorrow.

Gulp Alive minnows, Trout Magnets, Tiny Tubes, and some Micro Spoon plastics (I purchased a bunch of Microspoons last year, but I forgot about them with all the Gulp I use).

    Tight Lines,

crappie spreader rigs probably started the drop shot craze. that was the way we crappie fished as a kid. spreader rigs under lanterns accompanied by mouth, eyes, ears, and nose full of bugs. man did i hate those bugs. lol

try adding some sequins for flash and a rattle for long distance attraction. + glow jigs for night time action.

    good luck crappitier

Tried it this year for the 1st time ever with pretty good results.......used stinger type baits and baby shad.....drop shot sinker and a vmc spin shot hook.......worked great when they was close to bottom and/or tight on cover.....

I play around with it. Baby shad and micro spoons. For Smallies I use the VMC spin shot but use a small loop for Crappie. I found the 9' B&M Gant pole works great at that even tho' it was designed for side pulling.

I have used a drop shot rig with two woolly bugger flies. This rig worked well for Gills and crappies.

I used a "drop shot" rig today with great success!

All bluegills today, but I was a little chilly at twilight with this wonderful fall weather. Water temp is now down to 74. I caught about 50 big 'gills, and kept 20 to fillet.

I took all kinds of Gulp Alive, Trout Magnets, MicroSpoon plastic, and live waxworms and live trout worms. They all seemed to work fine today. But the Gulp Alive caught the most ....... even better than the live bait!

I could see the big 'gills near the bottom in 15' to 23' of water.

Wonderful day. Lots of action. I'll be drop shotting a lot from here on.

We ran low on minnows today so I tried drop shooting with a chartreuse skirt and got a few bites but the fish let go as quick as they hit the jig. Any hints?

Killer technique for bluegills on beds, and fairly weedless when dragging the bottom. I either leave a 2-4" tag end to tie my hook to, or use a long shank hook. I've also used this set up for crappie dipping minnows into timber and brushpiles.
