    Default Thursday's Fishing Trip

Thursday's fishing trip I got on the lake a 5:30 just before daylight and headed to one of my honey holes, well the bite was very slow, water temp was 86° and by 7am I only had 3 fish, I stayed there another 30 min hoping they might turn on but they didn't. I started to move to another one of my spots but decided to just look around. We all seem to be creatures of habit and go straight from one of our spots to another only seeing what's on that straight route. In a few minutes I found cover I had not seen before, looked like they had pushed a bunch of timber in a line when they were building the lake about 12yrs ago. The fish Finder was loaded up with fish. I put out a buoy and the slight breeze out of he East it made a perfect drift the length of the cover. I made 2 drifts and only picked up 2 fish and thought they just weren't biting today an then I realized I didn't have my go to bait on my jig. I was trying out some different baits. When I put it on a 8am I only had 5 fish and had fished over2 hrs.

I caught 19 in the next hour and loaded up the boat and headed home. I ended up with 24 and they were mostly 10-11".I know this is a long post but I wanted to make a point that we all get set in our ways and sometimes we need to break out of them. I've made up my mind to spend about 30 min just looking around for new spots

Great looking catch!!!!! Lure color made the difference, even after finding them. I'll keep that in mind or did you change lure type also?

Nice looking group of fish. I agree that it pays to shake things up sometimes. We do become creatures of habit and need to continue to think outside our comfort zones. Nice post and thanks for sharing.

Yes, I changed both. I was using a poured bait I purchased from and individual online in a different color.

Change isn't always a bad thing.
