For crappie, my go-to bait is minnows. I have caught them on jigs, worms, and crank baits too.

In my opinion, the very best bait you can use is maggots. Most tend to think of them as nasty creatures but crappie don't seem to think so. Real easy to acquire too, I typically just go hot and catch a nice sized carp or catfish, or lots of small carp if I can't get ahold of a good one; usually gut him and then dig a shallow grave. Throw it in, cover it up and check back in a short amount of time. The maggots will start to grow on there, then you just collect and stick them in cornmeal and toss in the fridge. Stay good for a couple weeks ussually

For Crappie, minners would be my choice but I seem to do just as well with tied jigs or tubes.
For blue gill, red worms and crickets
    Catfish, cut bait - Shad
Everything is night crawlers lots of time only use 1/2 - 1/3 of a crawler

minnows and waxworms. Always good to tip your jigs to entice better bites.
