    Default Night fishing

I had some questions about this night fishing thing im trying it this weekend. First green light or white? I hope white cause thats what i ordered. Second will this be effective in a large very deep pond? Or does it have to be a lake?

    Thanks

IMHO .... white will work --- deep pond OR lake.

Just remember that the light is not used to draw in the Crappie, but the baitfish minnows/shad that come to feed on the zooplankton that the light draws. The "baitfish" feeding activity (sound) attracts the Crappie. So if there's no real population of baitfish in the pond, lights may not be as important a factor in drawing the fish to you.

    ... cp

one thing is for sure. night bite is great most of the time, but not magic. you still need to find fish to set up on them. even then some nights are a bust.

we have been doing well on the eaters at a local lake. last night we decided to try another lake that mite hold bigger fish. whether it was the weather or the waters fault, we blanked on size! the lights drew in some bait but not hoards and the bite was very slow, and fish small. so dont give up on night fishing because it can be the best option going most of the time! i wouldnt still be doing what i was taught as a child if it didnt work.

the thing is there is not a whole lot of structure in this pond besides I few pines in shallower water and lots of grass from the bottom I generally catch them on the southern half of the pond so I figure I would
set up there. should I use a slip float or try tightlining?

either way will work. with a float you have more time to react though. good luck man. be sure and post some pics of your success.

I have two questions and a comment. Am I correct that night fishing is best when the weather is warmer? Not a winter or cold weather kind of thing.. Secondly
do you think the LED Lights that are used in automotive and home applications. Plastic tubes with strings of LEDs are bright enough to work?

Now my comment. I think you need to give the light time to do its work ... Several hours perhaps. Of course there are always exceptions. Years ago we use to use Coleman lanterns when fishing at night of a dock, bridge or on a point. Sometimes the chad would come in by the thousands and were would collect some for bait. The bite sure seemed to improve when they showed up also.
