    Default crappie gill mix?


    the bottom fish was shaped like a crappie, but with gill markings. do they interbreed?

    Supposedly it is "possible" ... but would be exceedingly rare.

    The bottom fish only has the "shape", and no color variation from the top fish, so I'd say it was not a Crappie/Bluegill mix. They could possibly be a mix of two other sunfish species, or different growth rates caused the shape difference (one could be somewhat older than the other).

    I have caught many gills that look very much like the ones pictured here. Have made the comment to my son that they looked like a gill/crappie cross also. Great minds think alike!! LOL

    Look up Flyer it looks like mix between the 2. I have caught a few in my life.
