    Default Multiple Drift Socks Question

I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and pick up a drift sock or two. I'm wondering if I should go with one big one (60") or two smaller ones (36"). Will the two drift socks slow the boat down more than the big one, less than the big one, or about the same? It seems like two off the rear cleats would be great when I needed both and one would work when it's not blowing so bad. What does the Crappie Brain Trust say?

Not sure how big of a boat your fishing out of or what lakes. But if you fish out of a 16' or larger and fish anything comparable to the big 4 in Mississippi, you should get 2 of the biggest ....5x (72")

Don't worry about the size of your boat. Get two of the biggest ones you can find.

It's a 16' aluminum. Y'all know better than I, so I guess it really is that necessary for big drift socks. The price difference between a 36" and a 60" is significant. I was hoping to avoid the jump in price if I'm buying two.

Buy the 5xl from cabelas which are a 77 inch and better pricing.

Check Cabelas bargain bin. They did have the vinyl ones on sale for cheap. Their just a little harder to store but work just as well.

After thinking about it, I guess I may have been asking the wrong question. How much does it need to blow on the big four in order to need a pair of drift socks that are 60"+? Is it anything over 10 mph? 15 mph?

If it's over 5 mph, I throw out the socks. Use the wind, don't fight it.

Listen to Feelay and Handi, I didn't at first and it just cost me more money to get it right.
