good job ! wish we could say it was cooling off . just got the weather a few min. ago. 81 now with a high of 95 and heat index over 100 .
I decided to sneak in an hour or so of fishing last night with my daughter. We usually jig the docks were we keep our boat so it is always easy just to run down for a while without making it a big production. With the recent weather cooling off quite a bit the crappie bite has returned to the shallow water and coves here on our lake. We've been doing well but most of the fish have been 6"- 8" or so. This week I've noticed there has been a good mix of larger fish moving in and last night provided my daughter with her personal best crappie. What a beautiful fish! It was taken in 18 fow right as there is a drop off under the docks. A pink and chartreuse crappie magnet on a pink 1/16 oz #4 sickle jig tipped with a chartreuse flake crappie nibble did the trick. The fish were hitting the jigs very, very softly about a foot off the bottom and preferred an almost still presentation, just a little rod quiver to get the bait tails working. I've got another few weeks before they take the docks out so hopefully the action will continue!
