I'm fix'n to start Guiding for crappie on Ky Lake. Gonna have to go a little bigger on the boat. I do spider rig with a 2 man setup in the front when conditions call for it.

Here's the question. I'm looking at a Procraft 210 (21 footer) with a 225 Opti Max. Any comment on the boat. I want a WIDE, heavy boat.

Might PM SouthernYoungun. Think that is what he bought while he was overseas this summer. He has been back a little while and and may be able to offer you some in site on how it performs and fishes.

I'm guiding out of a 23' Ranger bay. 108" wide and can handle anything a big lake will throw at it.

Do you have a wide load permit to haul it down the road?

The number 1 guide boat in the USA in my he opinion is the 520 Ranger. Widest front on any boat and good running hull. My next boat will be a 520 single console instead of the 188 Ranger with a 150 4 stroke Yamaha I now run. BBC has a good boat list!

I have an Astro, which is the same boat as a Procraft. IMO, for the money one of the best boats on the market. Better boats and cheaper boats out there, but it hits a sweet spot for value.

Wiskers, The ProCraft or Rangers should handle the big waters or KY Lake. If you want a 21 footer without the raised deck, Jim Bryant with CrappieMaster boats built one and it went to the owner of Lake Weiss Lodge in December on 2011. You may want to contact the boat owner and get his view of the boat, he posted pics on the Alabama site late Dec 2011 or Jan 2012. Not sure if Jim is still building boats in Lancaster, KY. I was in there shop Dec 2011 and have pics of the boat being built also saved the pics of the finished boat from the Alabama site. If you want to see this PM me and I can send them to You.
