To me it looks like a creek chub, not for sure.
What kind of fish is this? Caught it in the Shenandoah River and don't know what it is. Threw it back of course.

That's what it is! So are they good for bait? And if so, for what? We caught a bunch of those.

Yep, it's a chub. SM, walleye, pike, catfish etc all love em.

Hahaha.... Terry insisted it was a freshwater finger mullet... :-) He didn't really mean that, but it sounds like it basically is since everything in saltwater likes to eat mullet and everything in fresh water likes to eat chubs. Dang we threw them back thinking they were baby small mouths then Terry looked at one closer and said it wasn't so we took a picture of it to find out what it was... lol.
Thanks everyone! I can't wait to go catch some next weekend and try fishing with them. They were really easy to catch.
