    Default Allegany reservoir

Went fishing in one of my favorite spots on allegany tonight. Caught a dozen smallies and half that many walleyes. None of the walleyes were that big but 4 of the smallies were over 4 lbs and one was 19 inches and pushed 5 lbs. This spot can occationally be excellent for crappies in the fall, and thats why I go there, but everything swims in that spillway. Muskies northerns walleyes perch sunnies rockbass largemouth smallies white bass catfish trout and crappies, so when I go there and the crappies arnt there I almost always have some good fishing. Its also one of about 20 bodies of water in the states with the capability of producing a 20lb walleye. Both the NY and PA state walleye records are from there, and thats saying something since both NY and PA border large sections of lake Erie. Arguably the most productive walleye fishery in the world. I don't often catch crappies there, but when I do they are always 12 inches plus. I don't think I've ever caught a dink from allegany.
Good things come to those who bait.
