Question Variable Speed Trolling Motor Control

Need some Input guys & gals. I have a 2004 Motor Guide 71# thrust, 24 volt, footcontrol trolling motor. It has the 5 speed rotating switch.

Back a few months ago I saw a variable speed foot control for sell on ebay for around $80.

By the time I made up my mind to go with a variable speed they were gone!

Does anyone know where I can get one or if there is another way to make my TM variable speed.

Minn Kota used to offer the Maxximizer (not sure how they spell it) as an add-on for existing TMs. You might try searching ebay for that.

You can do a search on PWM speed control and you may find something.

You may be able to use this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/80-Amp-PWM-DC-MO...QQcmdZViewItem

Wire the speed control between the battery and TM, put the foot control on "5", and use the potentiometer to control speed.

They were made by Vexilar. They have a web site but I could not find it on their site. I have one and it works well, hope you can find one.

Hey Pan Man if you use the drive its states the input voltage as 12 to 36 vdc. What output would you have using 24vdc will it still be 12vdc or does it follow the input voltage?

I am going to assume that the output voltage will be the same as the input voltage.

You right here Keith. This circuit will do the job (then some). Just be careful with polarity. You hook em up wrong, you'll let the smoke out of the mosfets.
Want work if you let the smoke out of them.
