Those are some of the prettiest crappie I have ever seen. Until you started posting pics of your catches, I wouldn't have believed they grew that big in Maine.

I do have a question; I'm a taxidermist who is always looking for reference photos to use when painting fish. Would you mind if I copied some of your photos for my own use? I would never consider selling them or using them for personal gain other than for reference. Thanks.

Thank you. Were the fish your buddy mounted crappie? How big would a crappie have to be before you would consider mounting one? You have shown lots of pics of fish that you released that are much larger than many my clients have brought for me to mount.

So I guess bigger than those and a state record. In the last 30 days I have released at least 10 that were 15 and better.

Those are the kind of crappie I dream about! Those fish are just monsters all the way around. They are thick and as tall as long! I am impressed. Thanks for sharing.

Awsome. Wish we had mre of those here. I live in Oregon. Any help from anyone on how to locate crappies now would be great. I had them pretty well dialed in untill 2 weeks ago. Can't find hide nor hair of them. Not much structure in the lake I fish. They were about 20 ft down in 30 ft of water.

Every time I see a pic of a Maine black crappie I get jealous that we don't have them down here like that. Nice fish!

OK I've had enough... I'm trading in my wife for a new boat and moving to Maine. I figure eggs every morning, beans n dogs for lunch and crappie for dinner EVERY DAY:notworthy

Great fish! We can't even get down to 75 at night down here. Running in mid to high 90's. Feels hotter. Makes for tough and miserable fishing conditions.

Beautiful fish, I knew they had to be taken somewhere up north by how well they were colored. Man can't create anything as pretty as those. Agree with you about the ramp, nice to have the lake back.
