Mepps Aglias Blade Colors Question

Hello,

Just wondering a bit about this.

I fish mainly in a small Pond near Boston.
Loads of Crappies; not too big.

Use mainly a Mepps Aglia Spinner, Size 0.
Color has always been all Silver.
They seem to work well.

Have recently seen the Mepps Aglias with the Black Blade, with a few yellow (or other color) spots.

Do these generally work as well as the all Silver ones ?

The Silver ones apparently mimic a minnow or small bait fish, I guess.

But I can't imagine what the Black, with the spots, is supposed to immitate.
What does it ?

Do they work well onCrappies also ?

Or, best for other species, perhaps ?

I have often asked my myself that same question about some of the baits that I use, ie. Jokers or Slab Slayers. I've never seen a black and chartreuse tube minnow swimming in any of the waters that I fish, but the Crappie LOVE 'em!!!! I think the answer is simply that Crappie are predatory feeders, and they typically bite out of a reaction to a easy meal swimming by. So, whatever best gets their attention on any given day is what you want to use. The vibration and flash of your spinners are likely what they like. Some days they may want a more subtle presentation, you know, those days when they seem to want to stare the bait down real good before they bite? In which case your darker blade may work better. Sort of like changing colors on a tube jig when the one you are using stops producing strikes. Just my two cents, whatever that's worth.
