Default B&M "Ultra Light" jig poles. Buyer beware.

Bought 2 of these particular poles approx. 1 month ago, broke BOTH in about the same spots, approx. 5-6 inches down from the tips. Was fighting decent sized crappie both times when the tips broke. The dealer i bought them from said that these particular poles are very prone to break, he stated that their is a high return on them. Not trying to start an argument, just letting everybody know. NOT saying that B/M poles are all junk, just reporting about the ones i have.

    Lum:

With any graphite pole you have to take great care with them to not hit them against anything. You can hit them on something and weaken that spot and not even know it until you stress the rod. This is the reason why they break a lot.

The do sell replacement tips for about half the cost of a new rod.

I suggest that you call them and see what they say they can do to help you get a new tip.

lots of folks use the b&m rods and swear by em.. I got four out in my storage bldg with broken tips that seemed to break for no apperant reason. the tips are fragile and need to be protected. in my boat thats not possible so b&m rods arent on my christmas wish list.

Do noy settle for what some salesman says go to the company Lum have you contacted B'nM about the problem you have with these particular rods. I think they would personally like to know when customer is having a problem. Just like everything sometimes the quality falls off for some reason. In my limited experience with B'nM sure would like to see them check the rods and have the opportunity to take care of unhappy customer.

Years ago I built my own casting rod for bass fishing from a blank thatlater found had a flaw tha was not noticed in the inspection process. I contacted the company I had purchased blank from and they had me send the rod to them. They checked it out and sent me a replacement blank along with new handle and guides. I know that if I ever decide to build another rod I'll go back to them. I have also broken a few rods because I stepped on the tip (or somebody else stepped on it.)

If you contact B'nM I'm sure everybody would be interested in their response be it good or not.

    Default Graphites.....

I couldn't even guess how many good graphites I've broken. I started changing over to the composites as I break the old ones. I love the light weight and sensitivity of the graphites, but I would go broke trying to buy new ones. I've had excellent service using the composites, and they are tough enough to to take the rough treatment. The first one I bought at BPS in Springfield is 13 years old and still my favorite, a 9 ft. 9 weight flyrod and it has caught much rough use wading for crappie. Guess I'm too hard on the graphites, but I have no complaints with the composites. Not quite as light, but I don't even notice the difference now.

as someone else said, it would be good idea to contact b&m. my buddy broke the tip on his and they sent him a free section the first time he broke it. i think they have pretty decent customer service.

Default I love my B'n'M Poles

I have 6 of the B'n'M Jigging Poles, and am asking Santa for 2 more for Christmas. And I have never had any break on me. (knocking on wood) I've hauled them in backs on pickup truck, banging them around on the boat, hitting them on brushpiles, and even use the tip to knock the jig loose when snagged. I know, I know, a break is waiting to happen but thats telling me how strong and tough my B 'n' M jigging poles are. Now I don't know anything about the "UL" poles you're talking about, but give the Jigging Poles a try.

If the tips break and you never bumped or used it rough like I do, you should contact B 'n'M and tell them about it. B 'n' M has a reputation in keeping customers happy.

    Default BnM

I have broke 3 tips off of BnM Sam Heaton Super Sensitive rods I keep saying I'm not going to spend that kind of money on another one but, you know what? I have yet to find another rod that gives me the same feel that these rods do. With the exception of the Browning Noodle rod and Wally Marshall signature series.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I like the Wally Marshall signature series rods myself. I have 2 of them, a 7' IM8 and a 12' one. I would like to try the BnM rod but with all being said about them breaking I may never get one.

i like the wally marshall's too. i have 10, 12, and 14 ft versions. ive fished 3 seasons with them and broke only one tip off and it was my fault. the only thing i like better about the b&m is that they are a little lighter rod, but i could really care less, because they stay in the rod holders 95% of the time anyway.
