I have thought about using them but it takes alot of blockes to sink one and they are often treated with pestisides and who knows what else. maybe some older pallets that have turned grey would be o.k

I tried palets once, couldnt get anybody to help me so I wired three of them
into a triangle went to my favorite bridge, loaded the thing with cement
blocks, got a hernia getting the thing up over the railing and dropping it
in the lake. I was so proud it hung together from a long drop. Then I watched
it float down the lake, didn't have enough blocks in it. Two guys in a bass boat started yelling and saluting me, I didnt know they were there and got sort of close to them., they're number one in my heart too. Tried a couple
more times in the bass boat, scratched it up. swore i would never use
pallets again, just not man enough for it. Hope you have better luck
    than I did.

I have used pallets before. Tie three together like a triangle. It takes 6 concrete blocks to sink it. You will need a big boat and a lot of help. They work but I stopped using them because of the weight.

I would suggest against it they are man killers to get in the water and get them to stand up straight but i will say that one that i sunk 5 years ago is one of my best beds, they work but are hell to deal with.

Here is a Wood Pallet idea found on the The Crappie Killer website.

    Pallet Example

Get a hardwood pallet. Cut the slats off the top and bottom. Leave the frame or outside boards intact. Nail or screw the slats back on the frame in a vertical position. Tie a cinder block to the middle and sink it in 20 feet of water. Put two or three in a spot and you'll have a perfect "Crappie Condo Complex".

Yep, I agree with Trsteele. The hardwood ones are heavier and don't take as much weight to sink. They are almost heavy enough to not have to use weight. but if you have any current at all(rain water) then you better use a couple blocks. Pine will rot faster and takes a lot of weight to sink em.CF
