The St. Croix Triumph is $80. St. Croix makes excellent rods.
I'd also consider Bass Pro's Microlite rods. They're around $40 and offer many different lengths and actions.
Also, check out Cabela's Tourney Trail rods.
Hello,
Do pond fishing mainly, outside of Boston.
Thinking of getting a new spinning rod.
Would want it to be 7 feet, and 2 piece.
Full (old fashioned) cork handle, not that new cut-a-way style.
they seem to have come out with this year.
Probably a Light, or Med-Light.
Would like to limit it to $ 75 max.
I have some pricier rods, but for these cheaper rods, who, in your opinions, offers
the "best" ?
e.g.
Shakespeare Ugly sticks
Browning
St. Croix
or,...?
Thanks,
Bob

I will agree, tough to beat the triumph series rods for the quality.
For around $75, you could have a Wally Marshall 7 footer and a WMS 50 or WMS 100 spinning reel. BPS has some very similar rods and reels for around the same price also. The 7 footers I have been fishing with cost me around $15 at Ace Hardware with a Diawa 1500 Reel for about $20 and they have performed good for me.
I bought my wife a BPS microlite, but she always grabs my St. Croix. There really is no comparison if you have them side by side.
I bought a 7' Fenwick Eagle GT last month for about $60. Don't know how durable it is yet, but so far I love everything about it.
Love my St. Croix Avids but if you are looking for a good low cost rod, the BassPro Microlite 6'6" or 7' Light or UL is very good for the money, especially if you buy them when they are on sale.
