    Default Iowa River

Went out on the Iowa River this afternoon, about 1:30 pm. I was jigging for crappies. The bite was kind of slow. Did end up with 5 nice crappies, 10" to 12". 2 walleys, and 1 big old carp. 8 to 10 #. He hit my jig. I was using a 12' jiging pole and what a battle I had to get him in. Any how, I had a great time out there. First time this summer. Will have to try it again tomorrow, and see what happens.

Hi Lebruce. I put in at the ramp in Iowa Falls, then go up stream for about a mile. Been fishing the down trees and the rock shore line. I am using a hair jig and tipping it with crappie nibble.

Swanie, It sounds like were almost doing the same method and looking for the same structures.I'm using paddle bugs tipped with a little piece of gulp.I like using the paddle bugs for they fall slower and glide some what. And the gulp over nibbles, for they are more durable. Here is a link to pic.s of the paddle bugs.http://www.crappielures.com/Paddle%20bugs.htm
