9.9 outboard question

I want to put a Mercury 9.9 Bigfoot,20 inch shaft on a 1548 G3 all weld john boat,the problem is it has a 15 inch transum,question is will the boat run properly.

no a long shaft on short shaft trans will drag in the water. wont be as fast as it should be. and why a merc? lol OMCs are for fishermen you can make the transom bigger if you really have to.

(River scum), I can get the best deal on the Mercury and it is in stock at the dealer, I would like to have a Yamaha high thrust but they are hard to find. Jackplate sound"s like a good idea.

If it's at a dealer and they want to get rid of it that badly, see if they'll put a 15" mid on it. If they're trying to sell you a 20" motor for a 15" boat, run far and fast from them.

I bought the boat from a person on craig's list with no motor. G3 1548AW.
