Default caught a 5 pound crappie yesterday

Oh, did I mention that it was attached to a huge water moccasin!
It was the strangest thing that I have ever seen. The snake was holding onto the fish for dear life. Needless to say - I cut the line and moved to the other end of the lake. Never seen a snake do that before.

We've had stripers eat crappie while we were reeling them in but never a snake! I think I'd cut my line and head for the other end of the lake too - or another lake!!!

Had a snake try to come in the boat one time night fishing and have had them get on to my fish on a stringer when I was a kid, but never reeled in a fish with a snake attached.

I was kayak paddling with a few friends up the creek from Prestwood Lake in Hartsville, SC a few weeks ago...we were paddling around a turn in the creek and saw a moccasin coming downstream...we got out of his way and here came another! This one tried to get atop a friend's kayak! We paddled up about 30' and saw a 3rd moccasin! Kinda got my nerves rattled. They were very aggressive!

I use to fish an old creek that fed into the river and fished off an old slab of concrete where the water came through a tile from under the road. You had to lower your basket way down in the water. After a couple times of pulling up my basket and having not one but several snakes in it, I started using a bucket when I fished there.

I've seen crappie floating on top of the water nearly dead from snake bites, you could see the fangs marks in their sides, i dont understand why a snake would bite such a large fish because it could'nt swallow it. or unless the fish was intruding on the snakes den or babies
