I have the following colors of Bobby Garland Baby Shad's and I was curious which colors you would leave home. I'm trying to make some more room in my bag since most of the time I'm walking the bank. Also, if there are any colors I have missing that you believe I should add please make those suggestions too :) Also, most of the water I fish is clear sometimes a little stain to it. Cajun Cricket, Pearl White, Key Lime Pie, Bleeding Shad, Monkey Milk, Blue Grass, Threadfin Shad, Smoke Silver, Green Hornet, Blue Thunder, Electric Chicken, Bayou Booger, Mo'Glo Outlaw Special, Opening Night, Bone White/ Chartreuse, Hologram Ghost, Blue Pearl, Mo'Glo Electric Chicken, Mo'Glo Ghost, and Blue Ice

You might look into the backpack bag that bass pro has. You wear it on your back and it should have enough room to carry everything you need and then some and with it on your back you have your hands free.

Nobody is going to tell me I need to get Butter Belly? I saw that a lot of people caught fish on that color figured someone would suggest it. I really like the look of the Double Silver Rainbow I'll have to for sure pick that up. I am not sure on the backpack I just bought a new bag to use and if I didn't have so many panfish assassins in it and bobby garlands I would have room to add some Kalin's and Slab Bandits. Make some suggestions please of what colors I should leave at the house. For instance I haven't caught anything on Electric Chicken (which I'm going to keep in there and keep trying) Blue/Pearl, Green Hornet, Smoke Silver (usually smoke does good around here), Opening Night, and I have yet to catch a fish on any of the Mo'Glo BGBS but, I fish at night quite a bit during the spring so I kind of want to keep them in there too. :bash

OF those you listed I'd leave behind the Key lime pie, Blue grass, Green hornet, And Electric chicken, My past spring go to color was the Mo'Glo Ghost and monkey milk the #2. However some days they will eat one shade and next day totally different altogether.....stranger fishes these crappies.

Everone in Virginia buys the Kalin's shad in Money color (black/red/chartreuse). Almost 95% of the orders I get from VA have the money shad as at least one of the items.

Well, since you ask............Electric Chicken has always been my favorite until I came up with my own color, and it works as well as the Electric Chicken if
not better, but.........you got a wide variety to choose from for sure.

My go to color this past year was blue ice. Over the last few years the top colors around here were blue ice, monkey milk, blue thunder, bluegrass, and outlaw special. I also had success at times on the MoGlo blue ghost. I have anew bag myself but I think I am going to purchase the backpack myself. I have to hike down the road at times and I think it would suit me well and carry everything and free up my hands and I would not have to worry about my bag slipping off my shoulder. I am like you on the Electric Chicken, some people around here swear by it and I have caught more crappie than a lot of people around here dream of but that color has never worked for me. The funny thing is I do not catch fish on the Mo Glow colors at night when you think you would they have worked well in the day time, with the exception of the blue ghost.

My problem with "which colors to leave at home" is .... that may be the colors the fish are wanting at that time/place
If I were shorebound, or limited to how much I could bring along (to fish with someone else) ... I think I would opt to bring ALL of my color choices, but just not AS MANY of each.

Now, some may say ... well, Pappy, what would you do if you ran out (lost) all of the productive colors while you were fishing ?? To which I would reply ... since I use weedless jigheads, that's less likely to happen, but if it did, I'd use the closest thing to that color that I had. Personally, I've found it a rare occasion that only ONE color or color combination will work everywhere & at all times. It's mostly been my experience that many different colors are working at the same time, even on the fish in the same school (or on the same spot). It seems to me to be more dependent upon presentation & retrieve speed, than on color alone.

And I'll have to go along with "Genec", to a point ... seeing as how most of the Crappie I caught during the first few decades of using jigs for Crappie ... were caught on solid white. Solid chartreuse came along, which I added to my arsenal, and was quite successful with. Nowadays, I'm likely to be using greens or blues, with chartreuse tails, most all the time. And since I don't really know of any green/char or blue/char colored fish that Crappie feed upon, I have to assume that it's the presentation method & retrieve speed that is getting the bait in front of those fish, that's causing them to bite it. It's what I would call the "easy meal appeal".

Pick you out a few colors that you have "faith in" and leave the rest. I used to buy a bunch of different colors, and 95% of the time found myself using just 3 or 4 colors. I will always have electric chicken, blue ice, and blue thunder in my box. If i can't catch fish on those, I ain't gonna catch em on any of the other 100 colors.:twocents

Patriot wasn't out when this thread started back in 2013. May have been firecracker back then tho. Anywho, I fish three lakes consistently and different colors do best on each lake. Monkey milk, booger, ghost, bluegrass, key lime pie, and a couple more are always on the floor in front of me.
