    Default upgrading depthfinders, completely baffled

After fishing with my buddy and seeing his Lowrance HDS7 in action I knew I had to start hoarding hundred dollar bills. Now I can't afford $1400 or even $1000 but I see a couple options in the $500 to $700 dollar range. The lowrance HDS5 Gen 2 or the Hummingbird 597 HD or HD DI. If you have either of these units and would share your experience please do. One big question that I have is about the accessories. Besides the Lake navionics card will I be spending money on transducers and transducer mounts and a slew of other things I don't even know I need? I hate getting blindsided by the add ons. Thank you

Well, I sucked it up and ordered the 597 ci for $95.Hopefully this is not a scam. Even if there are add ons I'm starting cheap enough. A new toy. Oh boy.

X2. I almost went for it myself, but I decided to wait and see how his turns out. I'm guessing that it is just the unit, no transducer or gps antenna?

Hmm... I've bought tons of stuff from them. No problems ever. I think I might have to buy 1 or 2.
