    I guess it was the fault of this poor guy that a powerline was hanging across the river at water level?

    That is awful. I would think there's huge liability here. Why wasn't it at least flagged at a minimum? Doesn't make sense.

    Both my rigs max out at around 34 mph with minimal weight in boat. That's plenty fast for me. But, it could have been anyone in low light conditions no matter how fast the boat was going. Was the river real high at the time? Still no excuse, the lines should be safely hung above maximum water table.
