    Default Hungry Snake

Going through some old photos and came across this one! I was fishing on the Missouri River a few years ago and found this snake on the bank. It baffles me to think that this snake tried to consume itself. The snake was already dead when I found him. Thoughts?

My Granddad would have told you right away that is a "HOOP" snake. They grab their own tail to roll down hills to get to the bottom faster. That one must have choked on the way down!!!! ..........

Not that unusal actually. Sometimes a snake will strike at prey that crosses by their tail or simply mistake their tail for prey. With the curved teeth in a snake's mouth it's dificult sometimes to back out something once it's swallowed.
