Early and later is better for the black slabs. Middle of the day they scatter and go deeper. Look around the 8-12 foot line just on the edge of the weeds. Worked to sit in the weeds and cast out. Minnows hooked under dorsal fin on a slip bobber worked best. Caught some also on a 1/16 oz chartreuse jig head with a Berkley Gulp chartreuse over white 2 1/2" shad Brought home a dozen keepers and a half dozen nice perch. Great lake for surprises, too. Could be a sunny, bass, northern or a walleye going after your bait.
