Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey
The circus was at Bucksaw Saturday.
Got there early and no problem launching.
It was when we tried to get off the water and on the trailer things turned into a circus. Set out in the boat with a bunch of others and watched the Culhanes (if you watched Hee Haw you know who they are) in an old Chevy pickup with not much paint left try to launch a big ol' antique pontoon with a corrugated tin roof that obviously had not been started this year, cause it wouldn't. First thing they did was forget to unhook the strap and backed it in, light bulb came on then the driver got out and waded in to try to unhook, that didn't work. Meanwhile the breeze pushed the rear of boat around and off the trailer. A fat gal on the boat tried to get it back, one foot on the boat, the other on the dock and the boat moving away. I was waiting for the inevitable but she made a last second move and saved herself.
While this was transpiring there was a parade of jet skis launching, two failed to start and ate up more time sitting there trying to perform a miracle.
A Nitro was in line, he was in and out of the way in about 3 minutes.
The Culhanes saga continued, still not off the trailer.
Finally got to the dock and the wife headed up to get the truck and trailer while I backed out with the others waiting.
Culhanes got it off the trailer and started loading their stuff and a bunch of kids on the boat at the dock.
15 minutes pass and the truck is seen at the top of the launch in line.
Three pull out and she's next.
Culhanes try to start the motor. It turns over but no start. Still tied to the dock taking up launch space.
I ran the Tracker on the trailer and she pulled up the hill and over to the gravel area next to the weigh in pavillion so we could tie it down and let Dexter the Wonder Wiener take a whizz.
As we departed the Culhanes were still at the dock and the line was just as long.
Knew a Saturday on a holiday weekend was a bad deal but I needed to go fishing.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
