Default Truman: I'm Gonna Save Money And Not Fish Right Now

I thought I would put my philosophy for this season out there, which is, don't fish right now. I have pretty much taken to where I am only fishing tournaments. If you haven't noticed the late end of winter and excessive amounts of Spring rain have affected the crappie fishing, which, as far as the summer pattern goes is about a month and half to two months behind schedule. I pretty much only fish the summer pattern myself so I am staying home till August, I mean you can catch some fish they have been scattered though. I'm just gonna wait until later in the Summer and save money, I just really don't like to fish when its scattered, plus all the stuff I fish is about 10 feet under water and there are not a lot of fish there right now. I like to save money and go when I know its real good and hopefully that will be on tournament day just my strategy. I'll let you know when its a real good time to go. Good luck to you all though...

Take a man fishing and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in the boat and drink beer all day....

My philosophy is to go every time you have a chance to. I feel the summer pattern is going strong right and has for a couple weeks or at least what I call my summer pattern. Which is main lake flats/beds. Lake is only 3 1/2' high now so lots of new trees/stumps to be putting a jig beside on the flats. Get back out there and whack some slabs. No mercy tournament day or not!!!

I don't know for sure, too dam old to care one way or another, but I still get out and try, but I do feel with all the water they were releasing was not helping the fishing out, now that they have slowed it down, I think the summer bite will pick right back up........ hope so but will give up the lake this weekend to the 4th ers........ even if I don't catch anything I still like to try for them.... and getting skunked only adds to my smelly personality......

Screw that line of thinking, pardon my frankness. I don't know how many days of fishing I have left, none of us do. I find no better joy than a day on the water, other than waking up to kiss that purdy thing beside me with the messed up hair, I don't wait for much. Enjoy the good, bad, not so good, and not so bad days all the same. What if tonight is your last?

I'd rather chase dinks and that all to seldom thump on a tough windy day than sit around the house wishing I was.

I have four days of fishing coming up. At least one with that purdy lil'thing. A night at the casino that may cost me a day on the water if I don't get some rest. I'll be dammed if I give the lake the 4th'ers. There's enough places to hide from them.

yeah i really gotta agree with the other's... i totally disagree with that way of thinking. not going because you simply cant afford it is one thing, and understandable, but not going cuz the fishing isnt spectacular is just plum NUT'S, lol... i go every chance i get and when i got the extra money i make my trip's to truman, and that's 2-3 times a month. there's a reason it's called fishing, and not catching. when it's tough is usually when i learn something, and feel i'm bettering myself as a fisherman,,, try the cedar's, alway's a few hanging around in them. to me it's about being on the water enjoying the hobby I LOVE and spending time with buddy's. my partner and i rarely catch any fish when we go but we still LOVE to do it every chance we get! matter of fact heading out friday morning for a 4 day getaway to truman. maybe we can trick one into biting! just my two cent's good fishing
why do today what you can put off til tomorrow, go fishing instead!!!

You will let us know when it is a good time to go? Really? You have to be kidding me.

For those you not waiting for Shiner's green light ... I'll be fishing all week. And I hope everyone else is fishing, too. I'm with kcbrown. I don't know how many days I have left (and I'm "only" 46) but I'm apparently fishing for different reasons.

I'm a newbie on this site compared to Bugs, Beagle, Fuzzy, Baker, etc., but I've always fished for fun. I'll probably catch my limit each day but, if not, I'll still have fun and smile.

So while I'm waiting for Shiner to tell me when it "gets real good again", I'll go ahead catch 'em and smile. Please.
