Bought one like it in the McCoy AFB BX in 1966 to use in the salt water, still have it set up for the grandkids to use . Makes a good catfish reel with 20# test line. paid $9.00 for mine.--shu

Check it out on ebay. May be worth some money. Since it was passed down, why not pass it down to your son.

THE BEST TIME TO FISH IS WHEN IT'S RAINING AND WHEN IT'S NOT RAINING
What little bit I have found out about it, the reel was apparently purchased in the early 50's for $15.50. It has a metal spool, which is actually a chrome plated brass reel, and cost about $2 or $3 more than the 209 Model which had a plastic spool. In 2006, these reels started being manufactired in China...(Does that surprise anyone?) Prior to 2006, they were actually manufactured in the USA. I checked on EBay and saw them price from $30-$50....I am thinking it may be a nice item to put in a shadow box as a conversation piece. The feller I got it from is 93 years old and the reel belonged to his Dad. He also gave me an old Savage 300 lever action rifle and an old Remington .22 rifle that are still in working condition. The Savage 300 still has the original box of shells with it that was bought when the gun was bought with only 9 shells missing from the box. I had forgot about the reel and happened to stumble across it last night.
cool!!!

I have two of the penn reals, I used them in Pa. trolling for trout. They are great reals. Mine were made in the USA, bought in the 60's. I have used them the last several years salt water fishing for croaker, and flounder.
keep it & pass it on
