    Default humminbird DI

Is anyone out there really happy with their hummingbird down imaging results on any side imagining fish finder?
I have a new 998c and I'll be danged if I can get the DI to work well.
Maybe it's me, maybe it's the software that humming bird puts on the new machines, but whatever it is, this thing is not working the way I want it to. I have tried every setting I can adjust.
It sure looks great in demo mode !B-)
So if you're happy with your down imaging system please share the settings that you use and any other tips you can think of , thanks

not yet, I'm still trying to get a good pic but with so many software issues I don't think I will for some time, I will also say this that at $3000 for the 1198 SI its not worth the cost as of yet just my

my good friend has a elite 4x dsi and every time we are in his boat I want to kick myself, because his $300 unit has ten times better picture and a better screen resolution all for ten times less money, I know that my 1198 has way more options to it but I would trade all my options for his screen resolution and DI image pictures abilities

then you add to the 1198 an I-pilot link on the terrova 80lb for a grand total of $6000 spent on systems and I say I made a real big mistake ............ but as I have said when they get it all ( software ) worked out I hope it will shine like a diamond.............. I hope

Yes to your question, i am happy wigh my HBDI. Go look at the recent post HB SI Screenshots, couldn't figure how to put a link on here or I would have. I have a 958 and a 1198, I can't see that much difference in the DI image quality. Biggest trick I know of is you need to be moving, just like the SI, 1mph will do for DI work..

Just reading reports on the different si/Di forums id have to say that the overwhelming majority are not satisfied with there Di from si. to answer your question for me i seem to be having better luck with mind. But there's just to many negative reports on the web i would think there needs to be some changes made in future humminbird units.

We should always remember that the HB "DI from SI" is a completely different technology than any "Dedicated DI" unit technology...

Even though they are both called DI..
*Each technology uses a different shaped beam...
*Each technology points those beams in a different direction thru the water column...
*Each technology uses different processing to render the DI image...

Analogy...: A "flat head screwdriver" just doesn't do a very good job of manipulating a "Phillips head screw"....even tho they are both called "screwdrivers"...

having anything that doesn't work well should be left off the unit.

I am not satisfied with the DI from SI but I am more than staisfied with my dedicated DI units. Think I am going to try that DI on transducer on my SI unit using that switch soon.
