    Default No crappie this time!

These things are addicting, made another trip to Harry's lake yesterday afternoon. Got to lake about 3pm, caught some bait and started looking for the bigguns. Started a little slow, then fish on, caught about 15 kept 8 to clean for friends and neighbors to eat fresh. We did at one point have all three fishers hooked up at once, that is rare but fun! Few pictures of the trip.

If I could catch hybrids with any regularity outside of spring I wouldn't fish for anything else! They are darn good eating to boot!

Carolina rigging live perch a crank or two off the bottom on the main lake humps. They will be easy to catch for a while now with the water running. I can tell you one thing, we can be on a great bite and someone sees us hook up. Here they come with the big motor and most trolling and the bite shuts off! They leave after not seeing us catch or catching them selves. After they leave it takes about 15 minutes for the bite to come back. This happened to us last night, they came in with big motor and the bite quit, after trolling around us for 20 minutes they decided to fish straight down like us and we saw something we had not seen before. One of them hooked up pole bent over wind blowing their boat all over, the fish was staying in the same place? Heard a comment that it is so big I can't turn him. Fire up big motor and get back to the fish, pole never surging just a constant bend, net in hand, lots of excitement! My boy called it right off the bat, he don't have a fish, he is hung up! It was at least a 10 minute fight with something on the bottom before he figured it out, hope he is not reading this! We did have some good entertainment from it though!
But seriously the big motors will shut off the bite, when drifting we use the big motor to go back up but always make a big circle back to the top of the drift. I have even heard that the electronics will scare them off also. Don't know if that is true but something to think about.
