They take up less space in your freezer, thaw faster and taste as good. Either pre-freeze your fish overnight or just dry them well before you freeze them.

Been using one for a while for anything I can. Food has to be as dry as possible (or stick a paper towel before the seal) to make sure it's air tight. If you don't then some of your stuff will stink badly when you the it... Trust me.

Also, don't think you only have to use the food club bags. I buy huge rolls from some guy in Canada on eBay for more than half the price and they work just add good.

I too just got a new one that is upright style and takes care of water by it's self and also has 2 vacuum levels I guess so you can vacuum something without crushing it. Also the old one I have was not auto like this one and also and you have to help it by not only pushing the button to start, but also a hand on he middle of it to make it seal good enough to get the job done.
this new one has so many advantages over the old one its just not close. You can seal one end of a bag you just made from a roll where you had to seal that before it was off the roll on he old one. Very much improved!

Great invention, fish as good in 2 years as today, but, bags VERY expensive, but, considering what a fresh fish actually costs you...

On eBay a 11"x52.5' roll is $30 delivered to my door. If you compare to gallon freezer bags the cost is about the same.

And I also have an upright (model V3840) and the drip tray fills up quickly if there is any moisture which will shut the unit off. Even if it doesn't shut off the seal isn't any good if water is where the sealer is touching the bag.

Make that $30.34 for 2 of those rolls. Just ordered some since this thread reminded me to.

I love mine and use it for many things other than food. You can seal a fresh pair of socks, underwear, tissue, or anything else you want to protect from the elments in your hunting backpack, car, boat, or other places for emergency use.

I needed some of the 8" rolls and just got 2 of the 20' ones for $16 delivered from eBay.
