Default Need help, tired of loosing lures and fish!

    Ok,
I am tired of loosing my lures and fish because my lures are coming off and untied.
What is the best knot for tying on lures. I am using spider wire line, really like it, but every knot I try to ty, it keeps coming off.
So for you guys, which are the best and will hold up the best for a newbie.
    Thanks for your help.

I asked someone basically the same thing yesterday. He uses a loop knot that I have been trying, but have not been able to get it to stop slipping on 10lb braid. His answer was go to the Dollar General and buy some of the cheap foil packs of gel super glue and dab a little on the knot. That's what I'm going to do. Hope that helps.

What I do ... with Spiderwire and PowerPro braids :

I tie a simple overhand knot in the tag end of the line, then carefully & slowly tie a Improved Clinch Knot ... wet the line from the hook/bait eye all the way up past all the twists/loops of the Improved Clinch, and slowly cinch down the knot by pulling on the main line. When the knot has formed, I keep pulling on the main line to see if the knot is going to slip. If it does slip, I keep pulling until the overhand knot snugs up against the main knot ... and that usually stops any further slippage. If it does not slip, I determine how close my overhand knot is to the main knot, and if it's close I'll trim the tag line past the overhand knot ... and if it's not close enough to suit me, I'll tie another overhand knot in the tag line & cut between the two overhand knots.

I've pretty much only had to do this when the braid is new and still fairly slick. Once it's weathered somewhat, I haven't "had" to tie the overhand knot ... but, still do it out of habit. I haven't had any knot slippage since. I'm using Spiderwire 20/6 & PowerPro 10/2 braids. And I tie the braids directly to the hook or bait eye ... no leader used.

You "can" tie a larger overhand knot, by simply making the loop & then passing the tag end through that loop TWICE before cinching it down.

Wetting the line before pulling the knot will secure it or it will pull out and tell you to start over.

Switch to mono and use any knot you want.

Or, tie a mono leader on the end of the braid (double uni or Albright knot). Then, use any knot you want to tie on the lure.
