I never used a slip bobber before and decide to make one

I took a coffee stirrer, some plastic foam packing material, florescent orange tape, a bead and 20# test Vanish line for a bobber stopper slip knot and made the one pictured.



I was able to adjust the leader length from float to jighead easily with the bobber stopper uni-knot and immediately caught panfish in my pond. The jig head used had to be at least 1/16 oz. to be able to pull the 6# test line down through the straw, stopping at the bead/knot. The whole set-up is pre-rigged for quick use.

Man do I love slip bobbers!

Considering the price of bobbers in todays market, this innovative way of beating the cost may make the big box stores MAD! Great idea

Cost to make the bobber - about 2 cents. LOL

I forgot to mention the ring at the top right of the photo. All I did was twist some soft wire into a ring permanently attached to the bobber rig. I cut the main line off the ring if I want to use a different lure. A clip or snap swivel would serve the same purpose.

I have made some really nice ones and they are fun to mess with. Often have people ask where I buy my bobbers. You can go to a craft store and buy egg shape styrofoam pieces, they come in various sizes. I drill a hole down the middle and insert a coffee or mixed drink stir in the hole. Always save my stirs when out drinking, another fun part of bobber making. Then you can mask them off and paint them in various patterns with spray paint. Good off season messing around work!!!!

Make mine out of Balsa wood get it at any craft/hobby store. MAKE THE SHAPE i want ,drill it , and sand it,paint it,and last a coat of polyurethane to seal the wood from soaking up water. Have made some unique slip bobbers. Some people like making jigs.....me I like making bobbers!
