    Default Best Fishing Partnre

Best fishing partner ever! Her favorite part of fishing, though, is playing with the worms. (We spider-rig and don't use worms, but I have to buy them anyway...usually try to catch some bluegill or catfish with them after trying crappie or "return them to the wild" in the garden!) She has amazing patience for a 6 year old, lets me set up all the rods, and sits with me up front. She likes the fish that fight the best! I make it a hard rule to get off the lake as soon as she's said that she's had enough. It has seemed to make her trust that we are just there to have fun and enjoy each other.

I love fishing, particularly Crappie fishing. As with any hobby/addiction, the time that I spend "wishing I was fishing," far out-weighs the time that I actually spend on the water. Due to a crazy work schedule, college, baseball and footballI, not much time is left for any "hobbies." Recently, I had planned to take a trip to the Arkansas River. Well, as soon as my little fishing buddy found out, it was game on! He had never spider rigged before and he was excited to try it. When we got to the river, it was eight feet high and the wind was blowing 20 mph! We were not about to let that stop us! We set out all the poles and immediately started catching fish, he was hooked! After a couple of hours, I decided to let him have a shot at the trolling motor while I re-tied a couple of rigs. He handled it like a pro!

So, when I decided to fish the CACA tournament on Lake Nimrod, the choice for my partner was a no-brainer. The day started at 4am. With very little sleep the night before, he never complained once. We began the day spider rigging an old river channel. He was watching the poles and checking the depth finder for structure like an old pro. He even boated our biggest fish. Made me darn proud! We ended up taking 4th or 5th at the weigh-in, but honestly the time we spent together was better than any prize money. I can't wait to hit the lake with him again.
