Default new Humminbird 998c hd, drain plug overlap question

    Hi Everyone,
I promise not to pepper the board with lots of questions that are covered in here but I do have one.
I installed my 998C directly onto the transom of my aluminum boat. It all seems OK thus far. Hopefully flat and level.

My question is, having the transducer so close to the transom, it looks like the drain plug may be overlapping the the view of the front inch of the transducer.

Should I go to the trouble of moving the transducer out an inch or so?
Or does the SI beam project from the center of the transducer? If the beam comes from the center, then I should be OK.

I'm asking now since I don't actually have my head unit. I sent it back because as soon as I opened it, there was some loose piece inside, rattling around. Sounded like a screw, or a piece of plastic.

So, I have time to get the transducer, cables, power supply all done, before it the head unit comes back.

    thanks,

PS, I don't plan on getting a 2d, high speed transducer as my boat is almost flat bottomed.

PS , my drain plug is off to the side, not directly below the transducer.

As cone pole said...you really won't know for sure until you try it out...

The beam comes out of the entire length of the SI xducer because the piezo element is the full length of the xducer..

Also, the beam will pick up reflection echoes from "all the way to the surface" to "past vertical" under the boat...

It won't hurt anything if it does ping off of the drain plug.there will just be a white line high in the water column .If that happens you can move the transdducer later.
