    Default Aerator-battery operated or 12V?

    Hey guys,
I am trying to decide whether to buy an battery operated or 12 V aerator for my shiner bucket. If you will indicate your preference on the poll I would appreciate it.

Also, please tell me why you like the style you use.

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

All I have ever had were the D cell battery Aerators and I a not really that fond of them but Would be all I could afford when I needed one. Someday I want to get a good one which would be the 12v model. Hope tis helps.

That's important - D cells are portable. Will you ever want to use it from shore? In another boat?

I've used mine in a friend's boat, and I put mullet in there when I'm surf fishing at the coast.

D cells here as well. They last a long time as well. I like for it to be portable.

Pain in the butt to dump water with the d cell bubblers on a bait bucket.

I use both types, so I feel like I was discriminated against in this poll.

I have and use the D cell, but the aerators on those are crap. I know those that have hard wired the 12v models to their boat's system and love the extra power and convenience as well as longer life of the pump. And besides, it is still portable, all you have to do is unplug the air hose, the aerator stays where ever you mounted it in the boat, then hang a d cell aerator on the bucket and port to your heart's desire.

I use a Mino-Mizer, it's actually 6volt. However you can get the power converters to run it off 120volt or 12 volt. Doesn't get any more portable and longer life. I fill up my minnow bucket/cooler and can put it in the cabin/house, plug into my truck accessory outlet for the long haul, plug into my boat accessory outlet for a day on the water or weekend of primitive camping, or plug it into 120volt in my campsite. I never have to replace batteries. And the best part, it works 100% better than aerator's.

This is the one I use. You can run it off of 2 D cell batteries or plug the converter into 12 volt receptacle.

AQUA-LIFE® PORTABLE AERATOR - Aeration - Bait Care Management Frabill Store

When I first tried this brand Bubbles Single Aerator : Cabela's that just runs on 2 D cell batteries it was just insanely noisy and very detrimental towards my expected calm fishing experiences. I was even putting the pump in my cooler and closing the lid without crimping the hose just to attempt to alleviate that awful pumping noise.

From pump to pump of the same brands I think the noise level varies quite a bit since a friend who fishes with the same brand I use only his is the Frabill aerator that just runs on 2 D cells is somewhat noisier compared to mine when both are running on the boat.
