Default To DonG, Zig, Labill and all you other old coots

I am a believer, but when I meet my Maker, I want to negociate a few things. I want to downsize and trade my part of the Golden roads, the Mansions, and the eternal trumpets for a Jon boat, a little lake full of crappie, and some Rolling Sones and Three Dog Night. Also want a good computer (upgradeable) so I can yak here. I know I will loose as far as value goes, but I am willing to make this sacrifice.

I was thinking on the same lines. There was a movie on tv called " the 5 people you meet in Heaven " Each 5 people was in there own little heaven. The main character was in a carnival in Heaven, it's where he worked all his life and it was the place he loved and helped keep many children safe, but everything about it was perfect in Heaven. A nice perfect crappie lake with a limit every day would be cool.

But I kinda like the sounds of Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker,Lighnin' Hopkins, Pinetop Perkins and maybe a little Bob Seger thrown in. That MS Blues Hwy 61 just does things to ya.

We have a cabin on the MS River below Tunica and I was walking on the levee one evening after a week of heavy rain. I thought to myself, "I'll bet the "old timers" have never seen it this high. And then I thought, "Hell, I am an "old timer".......lol

I've lived in VA 40 years but I still have roots in MS and proud of it.....

Cane Pole - I was going to correct you calling me an "old coot", but I like your pick of music, so now I'm not sure how old I really am!!
Seriously, I'm willing to bet you guys are my fathers age, and I'm the age of your children - just from the info I've read in the last two days.

I'm still talking to the man above everyday, we need to hash out a few more details about the set of stairs I'm going to be taking. I won't need a lake full of hungry fish, or a fishing board to chat on. All I want is a front row seat to watch my two boys teach their children the love of the outdoors. I think I turned out pretty good through my upbringing, and I truly believe it was because of my introduction with the great outdoors(teach your kids to fish/hunt, and you won't need to fish/hunt them). I'm doing everything I know to teach my children the same apppreciation - I just want to see if I did my job or not.

Thanks for the thoughts, it was a much needed reality check.

    Default The "Old Coot" Syndrome......

It's kinda funny when you think about it.....when I was a teen I thought reaching 50 was so old it wouldn't be worth the effort to survive life's trials. When I reached 50, it didn't seem so bad, guess I'll hang around a little longer. At 55 I started reading the obits to see if I had outlived any of my "old coot" buddies, then I found one and didn't read them any more. At 58 my worst problem was finding where I left my keys, but had to find my glasses first so that I could see where they were lost at. I'll soon be 61 now, and what I enjoy most is getting on this site and bs'ing with all the other "old coots" that hang out here. Life is sweet, ain't it? Stay away from the obits, it's downright scary!! lol :D

Now that wouldnt be a good idea, cause then you wouldnt post as much info on here, or you would have to post it in both and that would be alot of typing or copying, and Moose would have to have an extra set of typing hands, LOL. I'm just wondering if us younger folks are less appreciated now, I sur hope not

Default If you guys are old coots...

Does that make me an old cootess? I think I prefer old broad.
I, for one, have no desire to live to old age. I have watched my mother live long enough that there won't be twenty people at her funeral. Better to follow Dad's example and die when you'll still be missed. - Roberta
