Home at last. At least I won't need to be looking at all of those big crappie pics everyone else puts up.

You got that right. I get to looking at those big fish pics and it makes me think I just catch small ones. I do catch some real nice 8 and 9 inchers from time to time, I just choose to not flaunt it and make people all envious

Rcc, I went to Poinsett 2weeks ago and jugged it for catfish till around 3am. Only caught one small channel. But i did accidentally figure out how you catch those slab crappie. We were slowly running across the lake around midnight and had one of those 6" slabs jump in the boat with us. My 9 year old son was in the back of the boat and told me something hit him in the shoulder, so i turned on the spotlight and there it was flopping around the bottom of the boat.

Whatever it takes to put one in the boat works for me. Now the secrets out. Coordinates to where the one jumped in the boat please?

No coordinates. Leaving the park boat launch it was straight across the lake towards one of the coves on the other side. Can't be any more specific because it was dark and no GPS.

That's close enough for me. It is only 600 acres. There are only so many places they can hide. After all this rain, it is probably a few more acres. Carol and I fished over there when the water was running over top of the dam years ago. We were catching nothing, but a dude was fishing the black top ramp/parking lot and wearing the bass out. He told us it was like that every time it got up. He said worms would get flooded and be out on the underwater blacktop and the fish would be in a feeding frenzy getting an easy meal.
