Default Rattle snake bayou, Mobile area, crappie question.

I mainly target bream, Rabbit creek, Rattle snake bayou area.
I like this area because the water usually don't get high and it usually stays clear even after a rain.
A couple of weeks ago I was checking for bream on the beds and I caught three crappie on live crickets. Two were over 14" long.
So next time I went I bought two dozen minnows at southern bama.
Thought I would do good on crappie with the live minnows. Wrong.
Didn't catch a single fish on a minnow, but did catch bream on crickets.
I want to learn more about crappie fishing this area. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I have never fished Rabbit Creek. I have some friends that do and they catch them on seed shrimp. On up in the Delta, minnows do pretty good. Better than Jigs. Try fishing 6'-8' deep and try a slow presentation. The fish I have been catching seem to be pretty lethargic and not very aggressive.

Thanks, I have tried jigs a few times with no luck so far. Do ya'll catch your own seed shrimp or buy them?
